Research Programme
Industrial Revolution 4.0 is centred on Artificial Intelligence, machine learning and related technologies transforming as well as disrupting global processes of production and consumption. Technologies can be crucial to enable sustainable growth and inclusive development. Thus, this research and policy engagement focuses on understanding the impact of rapid technological developments in order to assess and enable a more equitable economy and society toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The programme focuses on understanding and evaluating the deployment of AI technologies and prevalent algorithmic approaches with a focus on enhancing human capability and equal opportunity. It engages with the governance and practices of rapid technological change, while delving into the urgent questions of ethics, fairness, inequality and social welfare.
